Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and honor the Lebanese-American community of Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church for the service to the community; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, September 13, 2011, to be “Lebanese-American Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Lebanese-American community of Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church has served Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania for more than a century since its founding in 1902; and,
 
WHEREAS, the story goes that 70 Lebanese were among the survivors of the Titanic and the first to arrive in Pittsburgh where they have served our country in many ways including serving with the armed forces in both World War I and II  at which time many earned awards for valor and bravery; and,
 
WHEREAS; members of the Maronite Lebanese-American community have distinguished themselves in all walks of life, including the Arts, Business, Education, Entertainment, Government, Medicine, Journalism, the Military, Religion and Science; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Maronite Lebanese-American community has become justifiably famous for the quality of its cuisine of which they will offer evidence of its culinary achievements at its annual Food Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 16, 17 and 18, 2011 at Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church located at 1000 Lindsay Road in Carnegie; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, September 13, 2011, to be "Lebanese-American Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
