WHEREAS, Silk Screen: Asian American Film Festival will be held in Pittsburgh on May 9^th through May 18^th, 2008; and

WHEREAS, the Festival will showcase films and filmmakers with origins in Turkey, Iran, India, China and Japan; and

WHEREAS, the Festival will feature a Red Carpet Gala and discussion sessions with filmmakers and actors; and

WHEREAS, Silk Screen is a non-profit media arts organization with a mission of celebrating diversity and multi-cultural appreciation of the Asian and Asian American experience through cultural events.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends Silk Screen for its third annual presentation of Asian and Asian American films; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares May 9^th through May 18th, 2008, "Silk Screen Asian American Film Festival Week" in the City of Pittsburgh.
