Title: WHEREAS, the Business Software Alliance is a non-profit trade association representing the nation's leading software manufacturers dedicated to promoting a safe and legal digital world; and, WHEREAS ,the Business Software Alliance furthers its mission through education regarding software license compliance, advocating public policy that fosters innovation and expanding trade opportunities and fighting software piracy; and, WHEREAS, software piracy is a serious problem that impacts on the Pittsburgh economy through legal liability, financial costs, technical problems, and the loss of local jobs; and, WHEREAS, the Business Software Alliance is launching a risk-awareness campaign in Pittsburgh throughout the month of May to educate small to medium-size businesses about the legal and security consequences of using illegal software, encouraging Pittsburgh businesses to take the necessary steps to become compliant to copyright laws and offering free tools and resources to properly...

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the important work of the Business Software Alliance; and,
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declares May 8, 2007, to be BUSINESS SOFTWARE ALLIANCE DAY  in the City of Pittsburgh.
