Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby acknowledge Geneva Patterson for being a wonderful lady, thanks her for her work in the community and congratulates her on the celebration of her 80th Birthday. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that May 4, 2004 be hereby declared "Geneva Patterson Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on May 4, 1924, Geneva Patterson was born to the late Rev. R. M. and Elizabeth Reeves.  Raised on the North Side of Pittsburgh, she graduated from David B. Oliver High School; and
 
WHEREAS, Geneva was employed as a Food Service Manager for the Pittsburgh Public Schools, until her retirement; and
 
WHEREAS, Geneva is a life-long member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, where she is the president of the Alter Guild Ministry; and
 
WHEREAS, Geneva was married to the late James R. Patterson for 53 wonderful years.  The couple are the proud parents of three children: Deborah Williams of Philadelphia, Jacqueline Wilson of Pittsburgh, and James Jr. of Chicago, and are the proud foster parents of Michael Smith of Pittsburgh; and
 
WHEREAS, Geneva has been blessed with 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, all whom she loves dearly; and
 
WHEREAS, Geneva is loved and respected by all who know her; and
 
WHEREAS, on May 4, 2004, Geneva will celebrate her 80th Birthday.
