Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes and commends Vernon Stanfield and his extraordinary loyalty to his company, community, and family and wishes him a blessed retirement, which he so thoroughly deserves.

WHEREAS, the Pepsi Bottling Group hosted a retirement dinner for Vernon Stanfield on August 12th, 2004 to express their appreciation for his 43 years of dedicated service; and
 
WHEREAS, Vernon Stanfield in his many years at The Pepsi Bottling Group in Pittsburgh held important positions including but not limited to Cashier, Special Markets Representative. District Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Merchandising Manager, Business Development Manager, and most recently Key Account Manager; and
 
WHEREAS, Vernon Stanfield, through his job, has played a vital role in the education of young people by awarding over 40 scholarships to high school and college students; and
 
WHEREAS, Vernon Stanfield is a prominent member of the NAACP who does great work for them and has earned that organization's Scholarship and Humanities Award, National Youth and College Division Recognition, and Special Events Scholarship Recognition; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Stanfield's commitment to the community is so strong and manifested in so many effective works that he has received numerous awards and recognitions from the community, community organizations, local, state, and federal government, and churches; and
 
WHEREAS, Vernon Stanfield is a loving husband to Patty Stanfield, a dedicated father of Robin, Rae, Rikki, and Vernon, and proud grandfather of five;
