WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force, the premier community-based AIDS service organization in southwestern Pennsylvania, provides free services to individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS and delivers targeted outreach and education programs to those at risk for infection; and
WHEREAS, the AIDS Walk, hosted by the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force, and a
Pittsburgh tradition for the past 10 years, is a 5K (3.1 mile) walk that attracts thousands each year to Schenley Park to raise awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS; and
WHEREAS, on June 6, 2004 at 10:00 a.m., the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force will host the 10th and Last Pittsburgh AIDS Walk, A Push to the Finish, at Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park; and
WHEREAS, the 10th and Last Pittsburgh AIDS Walk will include food, interfaith prayer, the Wellness Pavilion and live entertainment from New Invisible Joy, Solomon Steel Pan, Nancy Hammond and Freyard's Day; and
WHEREAS, to ensure the success of the 10th and Last Pittsburgh AIDS Walk, the goal of the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force's is to have everyone who has ever participated in the AIDS Walk join in the celebration.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh salutes the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force for providing seamless integrated services to individuals and their families living with HIV/AIDS and delivering outreach and education to those at risk for infection; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends the sponsors of the 10th and Last Pittsburgh AIDS Walk, including UPMC, KDKA-TV, New Pittsburgh Courier, Jewish Healthcare Foundation, Pittsburgh Tribune Review, City Paper, Giant Eagle Foundation, Gateway Newspapers, Starbucks, KISS 96.1, 105.9 the X, WYEP-FM and WAMO-FM/AM.
