WHEREAS, The Federation of War Veterans’ Societies, Inc. was formed in 1919 for the purpose of providing an annual Veterans Day Parade in the City of Pittsburgh to honor the more than 42,000 war veterans living within the City of Pittsburgh; and

WHEREAS, although this year’s parade, which would have been held on Saturday, November 7, 2020, has been canceled due to the coronavirus, it is always a great honor and privilege for our City to pay tribute to the men and women who serve and have served in our armed forces; and
WHEREAS, the Federation continues to educate the residents of the City of Pittsburgh on the importance of recognizing our veterans and all they have sacrificed, not only for the City of Pittsburgh, but also our nation; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Federation of War Veterans’ Societies, Inc. for their continued dedication to all of our veterans; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, November 11, 2020, to be “The Federation of War Veterans’ Societies Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
