Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that PSVN is turning 3 and hosting its third annual single best celebration on Monday, February 13, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the City Theatre in the South Side; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Monday, February 13, 2006 "PSVN Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, PSVN (Pittsburgh Single Volunteer Network) is an organization that connects singles who share a common interest in volunteerism and gives the volunteers the freedom to pick the number of events, time, and charity they wish to participate in; and
 
WHEREAS, PSVN coordinates a series of volunteer events and strives to help its members cultivate new friendships while they affect change in our greater Pittsburgh region by providing volunteer activities with a variety of charitable and non-profit organizations; and
 
WHEREAS, PSVN was founded in July of 2002 by Julie Ransom, who was dismayed after reading the article in Forbes Magazine ranking Pittsburgh as being the worst place to live if you are single,  Julie got the idea to form PSVN from an organization in DC that she was involved with in the late 1990's; and
 
WHEREAS, PSVN began offering volunteer events to singles on March 1, 2003 and has grown to over 2,500 volunteers, and these volunteers have contributed nearly 20,000 hours of community service to dozens of area charities; and
