Title: Whereas, Bennett Place Apartments will have a celebration luncheon for 17 years in Pittsburgh, Tuesday, October 9,2007, at 7245 Bennett Street; and Whereas, Bennett Place has been providing affordable housing for Pittsburgh's Low income seniors due to the efforts of the 45th Anniversary of Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF); and Whereas the RHF was started by two clergymen from the United Church of Christ and a layperson who, with $7,000, started with a dream that has grown to include Bennett Place Apartments and 156 other communities throughout the United States, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Serving more than 16,000 older adults, persons with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged families; and Whereas, Bennett Place is an affordable community of 51 units for low-income adults over the age of 65 and is a collaborative effort by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Retirement Housing Foundation. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby recognize and commend the Bennett Place Apartments for their selfless commitment to our seniors and its 17 years of dedicated service to our family and community.
