WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (PMAHCC) is a regional advocate for Pittsburgh’s Hispanic business community’s civic and economic interests. Their mission is to develop, promote and advocate on behalf of Hispanic businesses and professionals and support educational opportunities for Hispanic students with scholarship funds; and,
WHEREAS, each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America; and,
WHEREAS, the celebration begins September 15 because it signifies the anniversary of independence for the Latin American countries of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica; and,
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will be kicking off the celebration at Highmark Stadium on September 15, 2021, where there will be networking, enjoying food, beverages, the beautiful city view and music by Noel Quintana, also known as “Mr. Conga”; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize our Hispanic-American citizens and honor the achievements of Hispanic Americans throughout our country; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, September 15 - October 15, 2021 to be “Hispanic Heritage Month” in the City of Pittsburgh.
