WHEREAS, Julie Heath grew up in the Westwood community and attended Langley High School. Julie began her career with the City of Pittsburgh at the West End Healthy Active Living Center in 2008 where she worked part-time as a Recreation Leader; and,
WHEREAS, in 2018, Julie transitioned to a full-time role, and nearly a year later, she was promoted to Director of the HAL Center; and,
WHEREAS, Julie enjoys working with seniors and takes pride in helping them access valuable resources. She creates a welcoming environment that makes them feel the center is their home away from home. Julie also loves spending time with the seniors at the West End Center, collaborating on new program ideas; and,
WHEREAS, during the COVID pandemic, when many families were facing financial hardship and were being turned away from other free food distribution sites, Julie generously partnered with Councilwoman Kail Smith to transform the center into a community distribution hub. For several months, this initiative enabled Councilwoman Smith and numerous volunteers to provide essential items-such as food, laundry detergent, and dish soap-to hundreds of families in need; and,
WHEREAS, she delights in the West End community for its spirit of kindness and willingness to help one another. She also enjoys visiting the local shops, where the people are always warm and welcoming; and,
WHEREAS, Julie has one son, Jack, who is married to her beloved daughter-in-law, Amanda. She cherishes spending time with her family and friends. In her free time, Julie enjoys crafting, traveling, shopping, and trying out new restaurants; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Julie Heath for her dedication to our seniors at the West End Healthy Active Living Center; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, May 29, 2025 to be "Julie Heath Day" in the City of Pittsburg...
