Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend P.J. Steiner on his attainment of the rank of Eagle Scout; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Saturday, May 18, 2019 to be "Paul "P.J." Steiner Jr. Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Paul “P.J.” Steiner, Jr. of Boy Scout Troop 66 has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in scouting, on November 20, 2019; and,

 

WHEREAS, as a member of Boy Scout Troop 66, Paul Jr. has served as Den Chief, Quarter Master, Troop Librarian and Senior Patrol Leader; and,

 

WHEREAS, as Eagle Scout Project Manager, he spent 90 group hours helping to preserve the American Legion Langley Post by scraping and painting the outside wall and dry walled ceiling tiles inside the building; and,

 

WHEREAS, during his 11-year tenure in Troop 66, Paul Jr. has learned priceless skills which helped him overcome personal issues in his life and enabled him to become a role model to his 4 younger siblings, to whom he has aided in the upbringing and care with his older sister; and,

 

WHEREAS, because of the values he learned as a Scout, he has a heart for those who are unable to do things for themselves, such as the elderly, whom he serves by volunteering his time to outdoor tasks such as shoveling snow; and,

 

WHEREAS, within the community, he has volunteered at the Church of the Atonement where he cleaned for a Christmas day open house dinner and at the Salvation Army Westside where he built a set for the Vacation Bible School program; and,

 

WHEREAS, Paul Jr. is a 2019 graduate of Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy and loves electronics. He taught himself how to take apart old electronics and recreate them into useable items, such as motorized bike; and,
