WHEREAS, John Hiras, D.D.S., has partnered with Save A Life Today (S.A.L.T.) providing free dental care to those who are less fortunate than himself; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Hiras was born and raised in Williamsport, PA and, as a young boy, always imagined himself as a dentist; and,
WHEREAS, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Lycoming College and graduated from The University School of Dental Medicine in 1990; and,
WHEREAS, after graduating dental school, he began his own dental company called Butler Dental Associates and now has three offices throughout the Pittsburgh area. In addition to his dental offices, Butler Dental Associates owns their own Dental Laboratory which allows them to produce their own dentures; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Hiras and his staff enjoy giving back to the community, and helping with free needed dental care gives them a sense of joy and happiness; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Hiras is also supported by his lovely wife Maria and his 14-year old twin boys, Johnny and Michael; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Dr. John Hiras and his staff for their selfless work of helping underprivileged individuals gain a sense of pride; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Sunday, December 16, 2018 to be “John M. Hiras, D.D.S. Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
