WHEREAS, Cribs for Kids was founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1998 with the mission to reduce infant sleep-related deaths, and educate parents on safe infant sleeping, and;
WHEREAS, in their 25 years of advocacy, Cribs for Kids has ensured that 1,000,000 babies across the United States sleep in their own Cribette or play yard; and partnered with a network of 2000 organizations in pursuit of their mission to educate and provide cribs to parents, and;
WHEREAS, Cribs for Kids has revolutionized safe sleeping initiatives and education through their Cribette unit and Safe Sleep Academy available to all, and;
WHEREAS, Cribs for Kids has certified over 500 hospitals through its National Infant Safe Sleep Hospital Certification program; and,
WHEREAS, Cribs for Kids in 2010 was instrumental in the passage of Pennsylvania Act 73 which provides safe sleep education to families before leaving the hospital after birth and has undoubtedly saved countless infant lives, and;
WHEREAS, Cribs for Kids has donated over 1,000,000 dollars in safe sleep products across Southwestern Pennsylvania placing over 20,000 of our local babies in their own Cribettes; and,
WHEREAS, this year marks the 25th Anniversary of Cribs for Kids founding and service to the community, state, and nation in pursuit of their mission, and;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does thank and commend Cribs for Kids for their 25 years of life-saving service to the community and role in reducing infant death and increasing parent education, and;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does declare Thursday, November 30th, 2023, to be “Cribs for Kids Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
