Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby recognize and commend Dr. Marilyn Barnett for her years of dedicated service to our youth and young adults.

Whereas, Dr. Marilyn Barnett is retiring from the Pittsburgh Board of Education after 35 years of dedicated service. Her educational services have been from 1969 to present; and
 
Whereas Dr. Barnett one of four siblings, graduated from Morgan State University in 1969, earned her Masters of Education at the university of Pittsburgh in 1984, and her Doctrine of Philosophy in Administrative and Policy Studies at the University of Pittsburgh in 1988; and
 
Whereas, Dr. Barnett began her teaching career at Fort Pitt Elementary School for three years. She then went on to teach at Arsenal Middle School for nine years, and for one year Dr. Barnett was a Teacher on Special Assignment/Instructional Teacher Leader at the Creative and Performing Arts school (CAPA) and;
 
Whereas, Dr. Barnett has received numerous recognitions which include: nominated Citizen of the year, Jefferson Community Award, received the Educator of the Year, Excellence in Leadership Award and is active on numerous boards.
