Title
Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Works to enter into a Garbage Collection Agreement and an accompanying Equipment Lease with the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh pertaining to the City's provision of collection and disposal services in exchange for the lease of certain refuse collection equipment from the Authority.

Body
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Act, 53 Pa.C.S.A. § 2301 et. seq., two or more local governments are authorized to jointly cooperate in the performance of their respective governmental responsibilities; and

WHEREAS, the Housing Authority and the City entered into an agreement dated March 31, 1950, which has been amended subsequently (the “Cooperation Agreement"); and

WHEREAS, the Cooperation Agreement requires the City to furnish or cause to be furnished to the Housing Authority and its tenants certain garbage collection and disposal services; and

WHEREAS, in 2001 the parties entered into a previous Garbage Collection Agreement and separate accompanying Equipment Lease to document additional garbage collection and disposal services that the City would provide over and above the services provided for in the Cooperation Agreement in exchange for the lease of certain refuse collection equipment from the Authority for no additional consideration other than maintenance; and

WHEREAS, the parties now wish to continue this basic arrangement by entering into a new Garbage Collection Agreement and a new accompanying Equipment Lease.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1. The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Works are hereby authorized to enter into a Garbage Collection Agreement and an accompanying Equipment Lease with the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh pertaining to the City's provision of provision of collection and disposal...
