Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council in the City of Pittsburgh recognizes and commends Ms. Joyce Broadus for her leadership, commitment, and dedication to the community of Homewood and to all whose lives she has touched.   BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council in the City of Pittsburgh declare Saturday, February 14, 2004, as "Ms. Joyce Broadus Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Body
WHEREAS, Ms. Joyce Broadus has worked for the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh for over 20 years; and
 
WHEREAS, born and raised in Pittsburgh, Ms. Broadus attended Community College then transferred to Hampton University where she obtained her Master's Degree.  She worked in Washington, D.C. after graduation, then returned home in 1976; and
 
WHEREAS, Joyce Broadus began her "Library" career, first in the main branch as a librarian, then other libraries include Carrick, Squirrel Hill and Knoxville. In 1989, Ms. Broadus became the manager of the Homewood Library where she has spent the last 15 years, in the community in which she was born and raised. She continues to live in walking distance from the library; and
 
WHEREAS, Ms. Broadus has played an important role in developing several initiatives which include, the Homework Club, Teen Advisory Group, Senior Book Club, Adult Book Club, and numerous others.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council in the City of Pittsburgh recognizes and commends Ms. Joyce Broadus for her leadership, commitment, and dedication to the community of Homewood and to all whose lives she has touched.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council in the City of Pittsburgh declare Saturday, February 14, 2004, as "Ms. Joyce Broadus Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
