WHEREAS, Bishop George Dallas McKinney is the pastor of St. Stephen's Church of God in Christ in San Diego, California. He and his wife Jean are the founders of the St. Stephen's Nursery School, Southeast Counseling and Consulting Services, American Urban University and the St. Stephen's Retirement Center; and
WHEREAS, since 1985, Bishop McKinney has served as the Jurisdictional Prelate of the Southern California Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. In November 2001, he was elevated to the General Board of the Church of God in Christ, Inc., and
WHEREAS, a former probation officer and prominent licensed Marriage, Family and Child Counselor, Bishop McKinney is internationally known for his dynamic preaching and teaching ministry, which places him in constant demand as a conference and convention speaker; and
WHEREAS, on Monday, October 20, 2003, Bishop McKinney will be the guest speaker featured at the 3 Day Revival sponsored by the First Church of God in Christ, hosted by Bishop James M. Foster and Pastor Elder Frank J. Jacobs.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council in the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Bishop George D. McKinney for his work and commitment to the spiritual well being of the congregation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday October 20, 2003 "Bishop George D. McKinney Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
