WHEREAS, the Eagle Scout Award, the highest advancement rank in Scouting is a performance-based achievement whose standards have been well-maintained over the years; to earn the Eagle Scout rank, a Boy Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of responsibility, leadership, service and outdoor skills.; and
WHEREAS, in June 2008 Garrett Sandridge, son of Lori and Gregory Sandridge, achieved rank of Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, Garrett has been a Scout since first grade and has completed many service hours for various groups in the Pittsburgh Area and continues to do so with both the Scout Troop and The Venture Crew; and
WHEREAS, The Venture Crew is operated by the Boy Scouts of America, and includes boys and girls from age 14 to 18 who are in search of camaraderie and high adventure; and
WHEREAS, Garrett's Eagle Scout project, completed in July of 2007, was to make a safe and aesthetically pleasing walking trail in Banksville Park; and
WHEREAS, in order to achieve this goal Garrett secured donations from Home Depot at both the Bridgeville and East Liberty locations, Greentree Ace Hardware and the City of Pittsburgh; He enlisted the help of fellow scouts and several parents, in order to clear the walkway of brush and debris, mulch and plant flowers and anchor a picnic table as a resting spot.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby congratulates Eagle Scout Garrett Sandridge on his recent accomplishment and commends him for his outstanding achievement of attaining the rank of EAGLE SCOUT.
