Title
Resolution creating a Task Force implementing a Festive Marketplace on the Roberto Clemente Bridge.
Body
WHEREAS, when PNC Park was being designed, Pittsburgh City Council was presented with plans for an integral connection with the Roberto Clemente Bridge; and
WHEREAS, Allegheny County is the owner of the Roberto Clemente Bridge; and
WHEREAS, Allegheny County has authorized closure of the Bridge on game days and the Bridge currently serves as a pedestrian passageway for fans who park downtown and attend Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Panthers games; and
WHEREAS, the plan to utilize the Bridge as a festive marketplace has never been advanced;
Be it resolved that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The President of City Council is authorized to create a Task Force to implement a festive marketplace on a permanent or game day basis.
Section 2. Members of the Task Force shall include, but not be limited to a representative or representatives of the:
a. Local Labor Union Officials;
b. Pittsburgh Pirates
c. Pittsburgh Steelers;
d. Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership;
e. Chief Executive of Allegheny County;
f. Sports and Exhibition Authority of Allegheny County;
g. City Department of City Planning;
h. City Department of Public Works;
i. Riverlife Task Force;
j. Pittsburgh City Council; and
k. Allegheny County Council.
l. City Department of Parks and Recreation/Special Events
m. City Department of Engineering and Construction/Traffic Division
n. North Side Leadership Conference
o. North Side Chamber of Commerce
Section 3. The Members of the Task Force shall elect a Chairperson within 60 days after the effective date of this Resolution, and submit to City Council a report on its findings within 120 days after the effective date of this Resolution.
