Title: WHEREAS, Richard Parsakian has served as either president or a board member of the Ellsworth Avenue Business Association since its inception 15 years ago; and WHEREAS, Mr. Parsakian is a dedicated community leader, business owner and volunteer in the Shadyside neighborhood; and WHEREAS, Mr. Parsakian has consistently dedicated his time and talents to improving the quality of life in Shadyside and making the neighborhood more attractive to visitors and potential homebuyers; and WHEREAS, Mr. Parsakian's contributions include the yearly installation and removal of the holiday lights on Ellsworth Avenue, as well as the design and implementation of the street sign at the corner of Summerlea; and WHEREAS, he worked to coordinate the gay pride parade for several years on Ellsworth Avenue; WHEREAS, the Shadyside Arts Festival and the Ellsworth Avenue Street Fair would not be possible without the guidance of Mr. Parsakian; and WHEREAS, in the past month, Mr. Parsakian was the...

WHEREAS, Mr. Parsakian is a dedicated community leader, business owner and volunteer in the Shadyside neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, in the past month, Mr. Parsakian was the honoree at Attack Theatre's Dirty Ball and he was recognized at the Public Theater's 21st Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force benefit for his volunteer work; and
 
WHEREAS, Richard Parsakian is stepping down from his post this week at the Ellsworth Avenue Business Association and is being recognized for his many accomplishments.
 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh sincerely thanks Richard Parsakian for his dedication to improving his community; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares March 20, 2007, "Richard Parsakian Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
