Title
Resolution providing that the City of Pittsburgh enter into an agreement or agreements with an Energy Savings Company pursuant to the Guaranteed Energy Savings Act, for the retrofitting of existing traffic lights throughout the City of Pittsburgh with energy efficient light emitting diode bulbs, and to pursue other energy conservation measures as directed by the City, at a cost not to exceed $2,200,000.00.

WHEREAS: The Pennsylvania Guaranteed Energy Savings Act provides that municipalities may contract with approved Energy Savings Companies for the implementation of energy saving measures on municipal property; and
WHEREAS: The Act further provides that the Energy Savings Company will guarantee that the energy savings to the municipality will meet or exceed the cost of the project within a specified time frame; and
WHEREAS: the City of Pittsburgh desires to replace its standard traffic lights with energy efficient light emitting diode bulbs; and
WHEREAS: An Energy Savings Company is to be selected by the City of Pittsburgh following a request for proposal process; therefore
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Works, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement or agreements pursuant to the Pennsylvania Guaranteed Energy Savings Act, and in a form approved by the City Solicitor, with an energy savings company for the retrofitting of existing traffic signals throughout the City of Pittsburgh with energy efficient light emitting diode bulbs, and to pursue other energy conservation measures as directed by the City, at a cost not to exceed $2,200,000.00, chargeable to and payable from the following account:
