Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Professor Marc Fichman for his decades of service to Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh's business community, and the City of Pittsburgh and wishes him the best in retirement; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declared May 6th, 2017 to be "Professor Marc Fichman Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Marc Fichman graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor's degree in psychology and earned a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Michigan; and,

WHEREAS, in 1980, he joined the faculty of Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business as an Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior and Theory and since then, has focused his research on inter-organizational relations, trust, research methods, sports, experimental design, analysis of motivation in organizations, industrial markets and health management; and,

WHEREAS, Professor Fichman's research has been published in several academic journals, including MIS Quarterly, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, International Journal of Psychology, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology and Administrative Science Quarterly; and,

WHEREAS, from 1994-1997, Professor Fichman served as the Head of Carnegie Mellon University's Undergraduate Business Administration Program, and in 2008, he earned "Above and Beyond the Call of Duty" award for excellence in reviewing from Academy of Management; and,

WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, Professor Fichman served on several Carnegie Mellon University committees, including the Tepper School's Ph.D. Committee, Teaching for Masters in Robotics Systems Design, Student Undergraduate Research Committee, the Ryan Teaching Award Committee and the Tepper MBA Admissions Advisory Committee; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to his university service, he lent his expertise as a consultant for several companies and organizations, Pittsburgh Parking Authority, Chronic Health Metrics, Exxon, Gartner Inc. and Marriott Corporation; and,

WHEREAS, in 2017, after 37 years of service to Carnegie Mellon University and the city, Professor Fichman is retiring; and,
