WHEREAS, on Saturday, December 4, 2004, the ESTHER Network Foundation (Empowering Sisters to Heal, Educate & Reach) is holding a "Thanks for Making a Difference" event at the University of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, the ESTHER Network Foundation is a non-profit organization that seeks to have local, national and international impact by tearing down all barriers that keep individuals from realizing their full potential and by pledging to be willing vessels of God's power and strategic plan for our lives through example, labor of our hands and love for another; and
WHEREAS, during this "Thanks for Making a Difference" event, ESTHER is honoring Mrs. Sara Harper for her strong dedication and service to her family, church and community; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Harper is a wife, mother of 2 biological children, 3 stepchildren, 3 foster children, 8 grandchildren and 8 daycare children and on any given day she feeds an average of twelve children; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Harper began her business career at age 12 as a newspaper carrier, and hasn't stopped working since then, with many and varied positions from Mutual of Omaha Insurance, The Daily News Journal, to Sara's Five Star Day Care, which she presently owns and operates; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Harper's Community volunteer work has included: Lydia's Place-Mentoring women in prison, Allegheny County Black adoption services, Goodwill Industries and Habitat for Humanity to name a few.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh thanks Sara Harper for her unselfish commitment to her family, church and Community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Saturday, December 4, 2004 is declared "SARA HARPER DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.
