WHEREAS, the three founders of DeepLocal, Inc., namely Nathan Martin, Carl DiSalvo and Jeffrey Maki, were recently named among American Venture Magazine's "Top 40 Under 40" for Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, these three entrepreneurs were recognized by American Venture Magazine for their MapHub project; and
WHEREAS, DeepLocal, Inc. was formed in September, 2006, after the founders spent three years researching collaborative mapping at Carnegie Mellon University; and
WHEREAS, DeepLocal provides software and consulting services for businesses and organizations so that they can that benefit from a simple way to collect, share, visualize and manage location-based data and maps; and
WHEREAS, DeepLocal, Inc.'s MapHub platform facilitates the sharing, collection and visualization of geographic data amongst communities and businesses; and
WHEREAS, the MapHub software provides solutions to problems that users face with existing mapping systems by providing a feature-rich, intuitive interface that allows individuals to contribute, visualize and validate information from disparate sources; and
WHEREAS, DeepLocal, Inc. continues to recruit and hire designers and web developers to work in its East Liberty office; and
WHEREAS, media coverage of the work of the three founders has appeared on MSNBC, CNN, BCC, and other major news outlets, as well as in publications by MIT Press and Autonomedia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates and thanks the members of DeepLocal, Inc. for their contributions to the field of mapping technology.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares February 20, 2007, "DeepLocal, Inc. Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
