WHEREAS, Kitakyushu and the City of Pittsburgh have both grown from an industrial heritage to become essential and diversified centers for trade and commerce in the New Economy; and
WHEREAS, Kitakyushu and the City of Pittsburgh have sustained a business relationship that is focused on mutual exchange with companies in the sectors of information technology, robotics, chemicals, environmental technologies, and sustainable development; and
WHEREAS the relationship has grown outside the business world to include personal friendships that bind the two communities in the spirit of respect, honor and harmony;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby extends to Tsusei Yoshida, Takehiro Tomachi, Toyoma Nishi, Yuichi Kimura, Tomihiro Ono, Toshiaki Sera, Masamichi Ando, Yoshishige Mimura, Yukihiro Shigeno, Hiroaki Mori, Yasuyuki Fukamachi, Hiroyuki Kubo, Tomoki Shibata, Yuriko Tanaka a hand of friendship and welcomes them to the City of Pittsburgh.
