Whereas, LaMont Jones, Jr., is founder, president, and chief executive officer of Pneuma Publishing International. He is also an award-winning veteran journalist for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette who created and coordinates a monthly page for teenagers while serving as the newspaper's fashion editor; and
Whereas, Mr. Jones is a member of Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighborhood. A fourth-generation Baptist minister in 2004 he received his Master of Arts in Theology graduating from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where he served as president of the Black Seminarians Association and placed among the top five in the 2003 national homiletics competition sponsored by the Michigan-based Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty; and
Whereas, A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, he grew up in Lexington, Ky., and graduated in 1984 from Owensboro High School with numerous honors, among them "Best Leadership" and "Most Likely To Succeed" among male seniors; and .
Whereas, Mr. Jones was named Owensboro's Teenager of the Year and was honored as a "Young Leader of Tomorrow" at the American Academy of Achievement's annual Banquet of the Golden Plate. He attended Western Kentucky University on numerous scholarships, graduating in 1988 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and government; and
Whereas, Mr. Jones is a former president and active member of the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation. He enjoys soul-stirring music and good food and is an avid comic book collector.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby recognize and commend LaMont Jones for his active roll and dedicated service to the Community and the City of Pittsburgh.
