WHEREAS, ACHIEVA, formerly ARC Allegheny, is western Pennsylvania's largest provider of comprehensive services and support for children and adults with disabilities and their families, serving 7000 individuals through their life cycle and providing services throughout this region not provided by any other agency; and,
WHEREAS, for ten years, the Hoban Family has provided substantial support to ACHIEVA's work on behalf of the children and adults with disabilities, including support as presenting sponsor of ACHIEVA's Annual Auction ; and,
WHEREAS, the Hoban Family is highly regarded by both the advocacy and provider communities for their stalwart support in making Allegheny County a place where people with disabilities are valued for the contributions that they make to their families, friends, employers and the community at large; and,
WHEREAS, Nick and JoLynn Hoban have demonstrated commendable dedication and outstanding commitment to improve opportunities for children and adults with disabilities and, through their example, encourage all residents of Allegheny County to open their hearts and minds to those in our community who need a helping hand; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes and salutes Nick and JoLynn Hoban's dedication to individuals with disabilities and the invaluable role they have played to help ensure that individuals with disabilities are fully included and are valued for their important roles in our community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, March 25, 2008, to be "NICK AND JOLYNN HOBAN DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.
