Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the council of the city of Pittsburgh joins with the Pittsburgh police academy to thank Mrs. Uva for her generosity of spirit.

Whereas, Nicholas Uva Jr. Was born and raised in bucks county where he began his career in law enforcement in 1985; and
 
Whereas, nick moved to Pittsburgh in 1993 when he was hired as a city police officer and quickly became part of the local law enforcement community and served as secretary of the blue knights law enforcement motorcycle club of pa; and
Whereas, in addition to his professional associations, nick, his two step daughters and wife Lisa Burkart, who now works for the city's office of municipal investigations, made a home for themselves in Banksville; and
 
Whereas, Nick Uva was traveling near Cambridge, Ohio with his friend George Horner of Lancaster on their motorcycles when they were hit and killed on July 20, 2002;
 
Whereas, his widow Lisa Burkart Uva, desiring to make a lasting and appropriate memorial that would honor her late husband and serve a useful purpose, has purchased a schoolhouse clock and plaque to be placed in a police academy classroom for that purpose;
