WHEREAS, President Cynthia M. Butler-McIntyre is the 24th National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated a private nonprofit organization founded by 22 students at Howard University, where they wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and provide assistance and support to their communities; and,
WHEREAS, President Butler-McIntyre was initiated into the Sorority through the Beta Gamma Chapter of Dillard University on November 30, 1973, while obtaining her Bachelors of Arts Degree in early childhood education.
WHEREAS, President Butler-McIntyre, an educator currently serves as the director of human resources for the Jefferson Parish Public School System in Harvey, LA, where she has impacted the lives of countless young people for over 30 years as a teacher, assistant principal, summer school principal and personnel administrator in her school district; and,
WHEREAS, President Butler-McIntyre has recently been appointed to the prestigious Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation Board of Trustees by President Barack Obama; and,
WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta welcomes President Cynthia M. Butler- McIntyre to their Annual Founders Day in Celebration of their 113th Anniversary and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend; President Cynthia Butler- McIntyre regarded as "A Leader with a servants heart" for her service to her community; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare March 31, 2012, to be "President Cynthia M. A. Butler-McIntyre Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
