Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby wish to recognize Mr. Ashley G. Woodson for his strong will, determination, and strong belief in the African American community by declaring Monday, November 9, 2009, “Brotha Ash Day” in the City of Pittsburgh; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a key to the City of Pittsburgh is bestowed upon Ashley G. Woodson aka Brotha Ash as a thank you and a memento for his continued commitment to the community.

WHEREAS Brotha Ash Productions, LLC, was officially formed in 2001 by CEO Ashley G. Woodson also known as “Brotha Ash”; and
WHEREAS born and raised in the Hill District, Brotha Ash knew he belonged in the entertainment industry at an early age, entering into the dance group with his step-brothers Anthony and Bryan Dixon called “The Mini-Globe Steppers”, a part of the Mini-Globe Showcase at Herron Hill Middle School founded by Mrs. Mary “Love” Harvey and coached by Joseph Barlow; and
WHEREAS continuing dancing as a solo act after 1980, Brotha Ash was successful in many shows, but started Brotha Ash Productions after seeing a need for his talents elsewhere in the community; and
WHEREAS in addition to starting Brotha Ash Productions, LLC in 2001, Ashley G. Woodson launched a community web site in 2004 offering a wide range of services for the community including advertising, news, celebrity and local interviews, trips, event planning, marketing, promotion, and much more; and
WHEREAS in addition to these services, Ashley feels that it is very important to educate the community on African American history as well as keep the community informed on what is happening in the African American and Latino communities and the world abroad; and
WHEREAS BrothaAshProductions.com was voted “Best Community Web Site” in the East Coast of the United States for 2009, for creating an affordable resource for black communities; and
WHEREAS Ashley continues to set an example for other black businesses by making advertising and promotion on the Web site affordable to all, no matter what the budget, by partnering with other black businesses, and by staying focused on bringing the community together; and
WHEREAS Brotha Ash Productions, under the leadership of Ashley G. Woodson, is not only a great example of how a business should give back to the community, but also represents black heritage with pride, dignity, and respect.
