Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Ethel Parham for her years of volunteering, her selflessness and dedication to needs of others. WHEREAS, Ethel Parham has been an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary William L. Street Unit 736 for 31 years.  She has served in all major offices and chairmanships.  She has also served as Unit president from 1999 through 2004; and
 
WHEREAS, in 1986, Ethel was appointed by the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Pennsylvania as hospital Representative at Highland Drive VA, which she is now in her 19th year serving in this capacity; and
 
WHEREAS, in June 2004, VA Medical Center presented her with a Certificate of Appreciation for over 4,000 Hours and 24 years of Volunteer service to the Veterans; and
 
WHEREAS, she is a member of St. Charles Lwanga Parish, The Ladies Guild, The Century Club, NAACP and the YWCA; and
 
WHEREAS, Ethel continues her efforts to help others by shopping for older adults with physical and mental disabilities; and
 
WHEREAS, on April 16, 2005, Allegheny County Council American Legion Auxiliary will honor Ethel Parham for her years of dedication and service.
