Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends these young ladies on their drive, energy, and enthusiasm and praises their focus on athletics and team spirit; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, May 16, 2005, to be "South Brook Middle School Lady Titans Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, South Brook Middle School, came into existence in 2001 and quickly established a full range of athletic teams to compliment their academic programs; and
 
WHEREAS, young women from the 6th, 7th and 8th Grades combined their talents to field teams in basketball, softball, volleyball and soccer to compete in the City League Middle School division as the "The Lady Titans", and
 
WHEREAS, the Volleyball team, coached by Diane Swearingen completed the regular season undefeated and went on to win the championship against Frick International Studies Academy; and
 
WHEREAS, the Soccer team coached by Charles Griffin had only one tie in an otherwise prefect season, beating South Hills Middle School for the championship; and   
 
WHEREAS, the Softball team coached by Tom Nash to a championship season last year, was undefeated and beat Prospect Middle School for a second consecutive championship; and
 
WHEREAS, likewise, Charles Griffin coached the Basketball team to a second consecutive championship capped off with a win over Frick International Academy; and
 
WHEREAS, all four of the Lady Titans teams, inspired by this year's theme "South Brook Girls Rock" and supported by Athletic Director Michael McGuire and principal Gina Reichert, brought home City League Middle School Championships;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends these young ladies on their drive, energy, and enthusiasm and praises their  focus on athletics and team spirit; and
