Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby wish to commend the Bishop Wade Jones on his many significant accomplishments, while additionally thanking him for more than three decades of dedicated service to the members of the First Emmanuel Tabernacle Church and the larger Hill District Community.

WHEREAS since August 25th, 1968, Bishop Wade Jones has faithfully served as Pastor to the First Emmanuel Tabernacle Church, located on Bryn Mawr Road in Pittsburgh's Hill District; and
 
WHEREAS Bishop Jones has not only acted as Pastor to this congregation but has also served as a lay church member, director, usher, and deacon prior to accepting his current position; and
 
WHEREAS on August 20, 1972, the then Minister Wade Jones was appointed to the position of General Field Elder, later to become a Diocesan Bishop, the Treasurer for the National Controller's Office, and Chairman of the Board of Bishops; and
 
WHEREAS during his time as Pastor of the First Emmanuel Tabernacle Church, the Bishop Wade Jones has succeeded in enlarging the vision of the Church's founding members, Albert Benton and Henrietta Johnson, by making a variety of improvements to the Church, including but not limited to the establishment of a new church building that was dedicated on May 18th, 1982, along with the creation of a low-cost, high quality childcare facility, the First Stop Childcare Center, located in the First Emmanuel Tabernacle; and
 
WHEREAS in addition to his professional and pastoral duties, the Bishop Wade Jones has also been a caring husband to his wife, Alta Jones, for the past 48 years, along with being a devoted father to their three children, Michael, Sandra, and David.
