Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend The First Tee of Pittsburgh for its remarkable work with the youth of the city using golf as a tool for developing life skills and for collaborating with the FOP to hold a Memorial Golf Outing to benefit the Fallen Heroes Fund; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 9, 2009, to be “ FALLEN HEROES MEMORIAL GOLF OUTING DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the First Tee of Pittsburgh is a non profit youth development organization that uses golf instruction as a platform to teach children and teens life skills and core values ;and,
 
WHEREAS, the First Tee of Pittsburgh leases the Bob O'Connor Golf Course at Schenley Park from the City of Pittsburgh for the purpose of conduction of youth development programs and operating a public facilities for all golfers of the City of Pittsburgh; and,
 
WHEREAS,  the First Tee of Pittsburgh in partnership with the Fraternal Order of Police wishes to demonstrate its respect and pay tribute to the fallen heroes of the City of Pittsburgh with a golf tournament; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Fallen Heroes Memorial Golf Outing will be played at the Bob O'Connor Golf Course in Schenley Park on Saturday, May 9, 2009, with a scramble, skill games and raffle and will include dinner, beverages and prizes; and,
