WHEREAS, born and raised in Hazelwood to parents, Palma Carpenter and John West, Helen Dennis has been a well-known and beloved pillar of the Hazelwood neighborhood; and,
WHEREAS, having worked at both Post Offices, Helen, whose strong work ethic is evident in everything she does, belongs to the Hazelwood Active Senior Center, takes part in the Senior Games, cleans up trash in the neighborhood, is a member of the Morningstar Baptist Church and is just such a welcoming and friendly person to everyone she meets; and,
WHEREAS, Helen plays cards, bingo, travels, gardens and visits the sick. Married to Raymond Dennis, they have two sons; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate Helen Dennis for her many years of dedication and commitment to her family, friends, co-workers, and her neighborhood of Hazelwood; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, September 14, 2021, to be “HELEN DENNIS DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.
