Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the ToonSeum, Pittsburgh Museum of Cartoon Art, for its efforts to promote and recognize the art of cartooning in Pittsburgh; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare November 6, 2010, “ToonSeum Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the ToonSeum, Pittsburgh Museum of Cartoon Art, opened in 2007 at the Children's Museum and moved to its location at 945 Liberty Avenue in 2009; and
 
WHEREAS, the mission of the ToonSeum is to celebrate the art of cartooning, with the goal of promoting a deeper appreciation of the cartoonists and their work through hands-on workshops, community outreach, cartoon-oriented educational programming, and exhibitions of original cartoon art; and
 
WHEREAS, the ToonSeum is one of only three museums in the United States dedicated exclusively to the cartoon arts; and
 
WHEREAS, on November 6, 2010, the ToonSeum will celebrate its first anniversary at its new home with its annual fundraiser, "KA-BLAM! III: The Return of Saturday Morning;" and
 
WHEREAS, KA-BLAM! will feature an auction, music, hands on activities and a VIP reception with Caroll Spinney, best known for his work as the puppeteer playing Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch.
