Title: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes Nicholas Paul Sywyj of Boy Scout Troop 6 for his years of service and congratulates him on achieving Eagle Scout. THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, March 27, 2012 to be Nicholas Paul Sywyj Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Nicholas Paul Sywyj, a member of Boys Scouts of America Troop 6, the Screamin' Eagles, based in Brookline, has received the Scouts' highest honor of Eagle Scout; and
 
WHEREAS, Nick, a Scout since the first grade, when he began as a Tiger Cub at the Church of the Resurrection in Brookline, has held the positions of Librarian, Troop Scribe, and Chaplain Aide, and has achieved a number of religious recognitions, such as the Light of Christ, Parvuli Dei, and Ad Altare De awards; and
 
WHEREAS, to achieve his Eagle Scout recognition, Nick chose a project to benefit his parish, Church of the Resurrection, planning the renovation of Father Quinn Hall, a job that totaled 440 hours of volunteer service and required the soliciting of manpower, donations, and funds through a car wash that he organized; and
 
WHEREAS, Nick, an honor roll student at Seton-La Salle High School, treasurer of Student Council, and recipient of several academic scholarships, has utilized the values and activities of Scouting to contribute to his success.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes Nicholas Paul Sywyj of Boy Scout Troop 6 for his years of service and congratulates him on achieving Eagle Scout.
 
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, March 27, 2012 to be Nicholas Paul Sywyj Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
