Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes with deep appreciation and respect the International League of Muslim Women and their celebration of the "Grandmothers, Daughters, and Mothers Tribute".

WHEREAS, on September 11th, 2004, the Pittsburgh Chapter of the International League of Muslim Women celebrated the "Grandmother, Daughter, and Mother Tribute", an event that honored the special bond between grandmothers, daughters, and mothers; and
 
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Chapter of the International League of Muslim Women was organized on April 3rd, 2004 providing a local branch of this 23 year old group.  In this short time, the chapter has secured a dedicated membership and has begun work towards accomplishing the goals of charity and common understanding; and
 
WHEREAS, Muslim women desire to create and maintain an organization based on Islamic tenets; and
 
WHEREAS, the International League of Muslim Women serve the needs of individuals and families, assist in counseling and guidance, and provide shelter food and clothing to Muslims and non-Muslims alike; and
 
WHEREAS, this organization is committed to fostering, encouraging, and promoting greater awareness and understanding of the needs of the entire community; and
 
WHEREAS, the International League of Muslim Women will represent and articulate the legitimate needs of Muslims world-wide on matters of mutual concern.
