WHEREAS, America's Grand St. Patrick's Day Parade powered by the Pittsburgh Penguins will be held on Saturday, March 16 celebrating Pittsburgh's Irish heritage; and,

WHEREAS, the Parade will be led by this year's Grand Marshall, Robert Tierney, a native of Lucan Co. Dublin. Rob is a member of AOH Division 32 Sean McBride out of Carnegie and served as Vice President of the Ireland Institute of Pittsburgh and in several capacities with the Gaelic Athletic Association; and,

WHEREAS, among the most honored participants is 2024 "Miss Smiling Irish Eyes" Queen Madalyn Byrnes and Miss Smiling Irish Eyes Court Maiden's- Brooke Ireland McArdle and Anna Catherine Hanley; and,

WHEREAS, Ms. Byrnes, daughter of Gary and Regina Byrnes of Springdale, is a Dean's List junior at Robert Morris University where she is majoring in Public Relations and Advertising with minors in Graphic Design and Business. She has been involved in LAOH Division #23 since she was five years old and comes from a long family history in the Pittsburgh Irish community; and,

WHEREAS, Court Maiden Brooke Ireland McArdle, of Baldwin, is a Dean's List freshman at Pennsylvania Western University - Clarion, where she majors in biology with a pre-medical concentration. Court Maiden Anna Catherine Hanley, of Sewickley, is a junior at Quaker Valley High School, where she is a three-year starter on the girls' Varsity soccer team; and,

WHEREAS, also among the honored participants is 2024 Hibernian of the Year Michael Moog, who is also portraying St. Patrick Himself in the parade. Michael has been a member of AOH Division 9 "Oakland Irish" for more than 20 years, serving in many capacities. He is currently a member of the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and AOH/LAOH National Convention Committee; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby thank all of the organizers and participants of the St. Patrick's Day Parade and welcome all Pittsburgh ...
