Whereas, on September 8, 2006, we are proud to recognize world wide literacy day and the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council's second annual GED graduation class of two thousand six.
Whereas, The Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council will graduate twenty-eight students from the GED program. Their mission is to ensure that adults and families acquire workforce skills so they may reach their fullest potential in life; and
Whereas, The Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council provides direct instruction to adult learners, promotes public awareness of adult and family literacy issues, and provides leadership skills; and
Whereas, since The Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council opened their doors they have served over 2500 adults and out-of-school young adults each year to help many individuals achieve their goals; and
Whereas, The Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council's was the first organization to be honored with the Wishart Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, recognizes and commends the Graduating class of 2006 from the GED program for their excellence and dedication to achieve success in their future in devours.
