Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend The Federation of War Veterans Societies' Inc for all the hard work that has been done over the years.; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh proclaims Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 as “The Federation of War Veterans Societies' Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The Federation of War Veterans Societies' Inc. was formed in 1919; and
 
WHEREAS, its' purpose was to annually provide a Veterans Day Parade in Downtown Pittsburgh; and  
 
WHEREAS, The Federation of War Veterans Society has organized and put on the Veterans Parade for Pittsburgh for eighty nine years; and   
 
WHEREAS, more than 1.2 million Pennsylvanians are Veterans, comprising 14% of our Commonwealth's population; and
 
WHEREAS, this week we honor the active military personnel who are maintaining those freedoms which we enjoy today; and
 
WHEREAS, we continue to educate the residents of the City of Pittsburgh on the importance of recognizing our Veterans and all they have sacrificed, not only for the City of Pittsburgh, but also their nation.
