WHEREAS, on behalf of Governor Edward G. Rendell, the Departments of Environmental Protection, Transportation, and Conservation & Natural Resources call for a major cleanup of the trash and litter in the Commonwealth on Saturday, April 24, 2004 as part of the Great Pennsylvania Cleanup, a new and ambitious statewide effort in honor of Earth Day; and
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Clean Neighborhood Collaborative (PCNC), with representatives from the Mayor's Office, Department of Public Works, the Pennsylvania Resources Council, PA CleanWays of Allegheny County, Conservation Consultants, Inc., City Source Associates, OMNI Associates, and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy to make Pittsburgh a cleaner and more beautiful city, has coordinated a major effort among community groups and individuals to clean their neighborhoods, while concentrating their efforts along Negley Run Boulevard between East Liberty Boulevard and Washington Boulevard in Highland Park to make a positive, noticeable impact in the natural beauty of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, PCNC is dedicated to the perpetuation of efforts to make the City of Pittsburgh a cleaner and more attractive city by continuing to assist individuals in beautification projects through the sharing of resources and experience; and
WHEREAS, the theme of the Great Pennsylvania Cleanup, the most ambitious and significant community clean up in Pennsylvania's history, will be "Let's Pick It Up, PA".

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, April 24, 2004 to be "Pittsburgh Clean Neighborhood Collaborative Day" here in the City of Pittsburgh.
