Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Works to enter into a Project Cooperation Agreement with Tree Pittsburgh for the purpose of supporting Tree Pittsburgh's efforts to promote and advance the City of Pittsburgh's Urban Forest Master Plan.

Body
Whereas, Tree Pittsburgh is a full-partner with the Pittsburgh Shade Tree Commission and the City of Pittsburgh to care and maintain the trees within the City of Pittsburgh.

Whereas, Tree Pittsburgh in cooperation with the Pittsburgh Shade Tree Commission in accordance with the City of Pittsburgh has developed a comprehensive approach to managing the City's trees, including but not limited to providing tree care events, tree planting events, advancing Tree Tender training, increasing awareness of the importance of trees in regard to storm water and shade canopy and electing to fundraise on a regular basis to provide funding assistance with tree care to the City of Pittsburgh Forestry Division.

Whereas, Tree Pittsburgh has the full support in the form of a motion of the Shade Tree Commission to provide funding assistance for the following: $5,000 to implement a PILOT Neighborhood Level Urban Forest Master Plan in accordance with the City Wide Urban Forest Plan to engage the community of Lawrenceville to increase shade canopy and address storm water concerns, and to remove invasive species along the Allegheny River. $5,000 to support Tree Pittsburgh's exchange with urban professionals from Perm, Russia to study and observe Urban Forestry Practices of the City of Pittsburgh and the cooperative efforts of Tree Pittsburgh as they relate to the Division of Forestry. Funds will be used to assist with transportation, interpreter, entry fees for Phipps Conservatory and other locations that are of horticultural interest. $5,000 for the first ever Tour De Trees Bike Run, a family oriented fundraising event to create awareness for trees ...
