WHEREAS, the Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh will celebrate its 61st anniversary at Congregation Beth Shalom on June 16, 2008; and
WHEREAS, Charles C. Cohen will be honored and special recognition will be given to The Rice and Linder Families and the Kether Torah Congregation in appreciation for their generosity; and
WHEREAS, the Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh has outgrown several of its homes, thriving as a center for community life and Jewish Education; and
WHEREAS, the school has dedicated itself to a strong moral and academic education; and
WHEREAS, the Hillel Academy students have consistently been awarded for their outstanding academic performance; and
WHEREAS, the Hillel Academy is fulfilling its goal of guaranteeing the continuity of Jewish values and traditions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh honors Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh and recognizes its commitment to Jewish education and thanks Charles Cohen, The Rice and Linder Families, and the Kether Torah Congregation; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares June 16th, 2008, "Hillel Academy Pittsburgh Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
