WHEREAS, D2 Hockey, located in Banksville Park, began its season in early March of 2013 in the first of four dek hockey rinks in Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, in both their spring and fall sessions, the league had over 200 kids and they expect to have over 300 participants in the 2014 season with kids registered from the District 2 neighborhoods of Banksville, Elliott, Mt. Washington, Oakwood, and Westwood, other surrounding Pittsburgh neighborhoods, and some as far away as Etna; and,
WHEREAS, local and travel teams play between 12 to 15 games per season and ages range from as young as 4 years old up to 15 years of age; and,
WHEREAS, all referees, scorekeepers and coaches are volunteers within the organization and are passionate about the game and the kids who play; and,
WHEREAS, we would like to recognize the coaches of the 2013 D2 Hockey League: Dante Borghini, Mark Conner, Scott Cypher, Chris Eberlein, Mark Foley, Pat Forester, Angelo Gnazzo, Nick Hill, Mike Keady, Rob Lattner, Dave Loeffert, Steve Loeffert, Brian Matts, Chris Mitchell, Rob Peifer, Scott Saxon, and Ernie Sciulli; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the D2 Hockey organization for a successful year and commend all of the volunteers that have made it a success; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, December 3, 2013, to be "D2 Hockey Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
