• Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and celebrates the efforts of the Homeless Children's Education Fund and joins them in commemorating Homeless Children's Awareness Week; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare October 18th to 25th, 2015 to be Homeless Children's Awareness Week in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Homeless Children’s Education Fund was established to serve as an advocate for the homeless youth of Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh, and to provide homeless children with access to a free, high quality, public education; and,

WHEREAS, the HCEF manages Learning Centers and Resource Libraries at many shelters throughout the city and county, working to provide homeless children with a comfortable and safe environment in which to learn and express their creativity; and,

WHEREAS, in order to focus the attention of the Pittsburgh region on the amazing work of the HCEF and to bring to the forefront the serious issues that the HCEF works tirelessly to solve, the week of October 18^th to October 25^th, 2015 has been designated Homeless Children’s Awareness Week; and,

WHEREAS, now in its fifth year, Homeless Children’s Awareness Week will include several educational events across the city, including installation art exhibits, and a night of storytelling, culminates in a 5k/10k Stand up and Run for Homeless Children event on Sunday, October 25^th; and,
