• Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the Indonesian Student Association of the University of Pittsburgh for their commitment to the sharing of cultures in the spirit of community building; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare October 9, 2011 “Indonesian Culture Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Sunday, October 9, 2011 the Indonesian Student Association of the University of Pittsburgh will host an Indonesian Cultural Exhibition from 2pm to 5pm at the William Pitt Union; and

WHEREAS, in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy, the Indonesian Consulate General, and the University of Pittsburgh, the goal of the Indonesian Cultural Exhibition is to introduce the culture of the archipelago of islands to the Pittsburgh community in the hopes of fostering understanding and appreciation; and

WHEREAS, the free event will feature traditional Indonesian performances such as Calung, Javanese Gamelan, Angklung, and Reog Ponorogo, in addition to an Indonesian fashion show, traditional arts and crafts, and delicious Indonesian cuisine.
