WHEREAS, Judy Kail has been employed at the Allegheny County Health Department in the Immunization Clinic Since 1974, where she greeted folks in her traditional Pittsburgh accent and firmness, enveloped in warmth and hospitality; and,
WHEREAS, her knowledge, combined with an ease in interacting with clients, often resulted in Dr. Dixon requesting her to be the primary point person during a public health crises, when there was an anticipated influx of clients; and,
WHEREAS, volunteer extraordinaire, Judy Kail volunteered for the Catholic Diocese weekly, spending countless hours helping parishioners and clergy at Canevin Catholic, Epiphany and other Churches in Oakland, Uptown and the Hill District and volunteered over 20 years at Bingo for the former St. Agnes Church; and,
WHEREAS, her candid, tell-it-like-it-is approach to life, is surpassed only by her heart of gold and will give more than she has to people in need; and,
WHEREAS, her love of sports has led her to mentor, support and guide many neighborhood folks into professional sports, many of whom pursued a successful sports career; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to work and volunteering, Judy has been a loving caregiver to her 96-year-old mother, and is retiring to extend her hours of care to her mother; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Judy Kail for achieving more than 44 years of selfless service to the Allegheny County Health Department leaving behind big shoes to fill; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, February 2, 2018, to be “Judy Kail Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
