Title: WHEREAS, the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials-Pittsburgh Chapter is part of a national transportation organization founded in 1971 which provides networking opportunities, career development, training and continuing education for all transportation professionals; and, WHEREAS, the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials has 34 chapters nationwide, more than 2,000 members and has helped advance the Federal Transportation Administration, the American Public Transportation Association and the national Disadvantaged Business Enterprise initiatives.; and, WHEREAS, since its inception , the national organization as well as the state and local chapters such as COMTO-Pittsburgh have provided scholarships to deserving students who represent tomorrow's transportation leaders; and, WHEREAS, the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials-Pittsburgh Chapter will be sponsoring the 2007 PROGRAM AND SCHOLARSHIP LUNCHEON to be held on Friday, May 11, 2007 , where s...

      WHEREAS, the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials has 34 chapters nationwide, more than 2,000 members and has helped advance the Federal Transportation Administration, the American Public Transportation Association and the national Disadvantaged Business Enterprise initiatives.; and,
 
WHEREAS, since its inception , the national organization as well as the state and local chapters such as COMTO-Pittsburgh have provided scholarships to deserving students who represent tomorrow's transportation leaders; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials-Pittsburgh Chapter will be sponsoring the 2007 PROGRAM AND SCHOLARSHIP LUNCHEON to be held on Friday, May 11, 2007 , where six area students will be awarded scholarships of $1500 each; and
 
WHEREAS, esteemed speakers at the Luncheon will include William Millar, President of the American Public Transportation Association who will speak on Research Communication and Advocacy, and Richard Adams, Assistant Dean of Multi-Cultural Affairs at the Community College of Allegheny College who will discuss the value of education in today's global market.
 
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the important work of the Conference of  Minority Transportation Officials; and,
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare May 11, 2007,  COMTO-PITTSBURGH CHAPTER DAY in the City of Pittsburgh.
